Mighty Stallion Books
Victoria Kasten, age sixteen, wrote her first Mighty Stallion book at age twelve. She currently has 4 Mighty Stallion Books available - see below. (She hopes to make the Mighty Stallion stories into a 10-book series.) She is currently working on a movie version of an Historical Fiction trilogy as well as Mighty Stallion 5 A Stallion's Heart (pony express) which will be released in December of 2007.Victoria had two poems published in a nationally circulated newspaper at Age 11. Her first published book, Mighty Stallion, was released in November of 2005. Since that time Victoria has participated in many events and book signings. She has been the subject of a number of newspaper articles (including front page features) for Bluff Country Reader, Rochester Post Bulletin, Northfield News, Lonsdale Review, Spring Valley Tribune, Mankato Free press and others. She has also been interviewed by 4 radio shows in 2007.
Her first magazine article appeared in the 2006 winter issue of American Livestock Magazine. American Livestock also published a poem of Victoria's in the Spring 2007 issue.
Also, in 2007, she was hired to teach at two Young Writers conferences in MN (Mankato & Winona) where she taught approximately 400 children about character development in a story.
Victoria is a home-educated student who loves horses. She has 2 horses of her own. Victoria also plays violin and until recently served as the Concert Mistress in her youth Symphony Orchestra and played in a Youth Chamber Ensemble. While her writing endeavors have put her violin playing on hold, she is still active in 4H and her church. Victoria has a special interest in history. When she is home she enjoys the company of alpacas, rabbits and kittens on her family’s farm and hopes to own a small farm of her own when she is older.

NEWS:
- Thanks to everyone who visited Victoria at the Deep Valley Book Festival! Another enjoyable event.
- Victoria has had a busy fall. She was a guest author for the Sauk Centre Writer's Conference in October where she taught approximately 100 adults on Developing Characters in your writing. She also served on a panel discussion group along with John Koblas, Lois Greiman and Gary Paulsen (winner of 3 Newberry Awards).
- Another enjoyable event.... Victoria attended the Montgomery-Lonsdale Public Junior High School and the Montgomery Holy Redeemer Catholic School where she talked with approximately 200 students about her writing experiences. She also attended a Montgomery Friends of the Library event that evening where she was the special guest. Special thanks to Montgomery for their warm reception!
- Victoria enjoyed book signing at the Author's Tent for the Northfield Historical Society during Jesse James Days in Northfield. She was joined by John Koblas and Johnny Boggs. A highlight was being introduced on main street during 2 of the reenactments and then enjoying a great view of the reenactment itself.
- In early August, 2007, Victoria was honored to be asked to attend the Academic All Stars event at the Mall of America as a VIP. This event recognizes the accomplishments of 4000 of Minnesota's best and brightest public school students. Victoria was asked to join a group of other VIPs, including people from the MN Dept of Education, in congratulating and shaking hands with these children.
- Congratulations Victoria! She recently received 3 Champion Ribbons for her county fair 4H projects - including one for her Mighty Stallion Books and her involvement in the community with her writing. Her books were eligible for a State Fair Trip for the 2nd year in a row, though she has chosen to take a different project this year. Victoria also had 4 Honorable Mention awards. (Update: Victoria's Computer Graphics entry for the MN State Fair in 4H took a Purple ribbon - the highest honor she could achieve.... - Victoria designed the front cover layout for her new book, IronHeart.)
- On the Radio! Victoria enjoyed her 4th radio interview of 2007 on April 25 on KYMN (Northfield, MN).
- In the News! Articles on Victoria have appeared in the Lonsdale News Review, the Rochester Post Bulletin and the Spring Valley Tribune in early 2007.
- Victoria will be a guest author for the Northfield Historical Society at Northfield's annual Jesse James Days Event in September, 2007. Check back in mid-summer for more information. The Historical Society has a great new website and Victoria's books on featured on 2 website pages....
- Victoria has had three radio interviews this Spring! She spoke on KTOE in Mankato – February 5th with Pete Steiner in his show “Talk of the Town” ( 1:00 p.m.) and then again with Marti Ryan in her show “ArtCetera” on February 8th - (10:10 a.m.). Victoria was interviewed along with Joyce Swenson, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the South Central Service Cooperative and the keynote speaker for the conference. They discussed the Young Writers Conference in Mankato. Victoria was also interviewed by Gordy Kosfeld of KDHL before the Lonsdale Business Showcase in March.
- Victoria will be teaching at Young Writer Conferences in Mankato in March 2007 and Winona in May 2007.
- MACHE has accepted Victoria as a vendor for their annual 2007 MN Statewide Homeschool Conference! This is a great honor as there are many vendors who seek admission and the vendors admitted are hand-selected by MACHE each year. This convention will be held in Rochester, MN in April, 2007. - Victoria will be the youngest author attending the MN Author's Deep Valley Book Festival in Mankato, MN on November 11, 2006. She will have a vendor booth and will also be serving on several panel discussion groups including Children's books and Poetry. Stop by and see her. - Congratulations Victoria! She won a Blue Ribbon at the 2006 MN State Fair for her Mighty Stallion books.
- American Livestock, a nationally distributed magazine, available at Tractor Supply Stores, is running an article written by Victoria entitled "Life on a Hobby Farm" in the November 2006 Winter Edition. American Livestock also published a poem by Victoria in the Spring 2007 issue.
- The Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary has purchased Victoria's books for their store! Thank you to them for their support. It was the horses at the sanctuary that inspired Victoria to write these books.
- Victoria was one of 4 winners in the 2006 Twin Cities Creation Science writing contest. She read her entry to a crowd of about 150 people at the TCCSA meeting in September, 2006.
- Victoria was front-page featured in two newspapers in the summer of 2006... Bluff Country News in Southeastern Minnesota and Northfield News near the Twin Cities.
